Jakob Willesen recieved his degree as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1999. Since year 2000 he has worked at the University Hospital for Companion Animals. In 2008 Jakob Willesen was awarded the PhD degree for his work with the French Heartworm (Angiostrongylus vasorum) in dogs.

Jakob Willesens primary work and research are within the field of Internal Medicine in Companion Animals and comprises among others:

  • Clinical cardiology
  • Respiratory disease
  • Cardiopulmonary parasites
