Luca Guardabassi (LG) is professor at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. He is an internationally recognizedOne Health microbiologist specialized in antimicrobial resistance with over 160 publications in peer-reviewed journals. LG graduated in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pisa in 1994, and obtained his PhD in Microbiology at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Denmark in 2000. Since 2005, he is de-facto diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Public Health (ECVPH). His research ranges from evolutionary and epidemiological studies of resistant bacteria of veterinary and medical interest to discovery of innovative antimicrobial therapies and development of new diagnostic tests.He is a pioneer of antimicrobial stewardship in veterinary medicine. As part of his honorary office, he chairs the ESCMID Study Group for Veterinary Microbiology (ESGVM) and the Therapeutic Guidelines Group in WSAVA, and is member of the WSAVA One Health Committee, the European veterinary subcommittee on antimicrobial susceptibility testing (VetCAST) and various national and international working groups for antimicrobial guidelines in veterinary medicine.
