Short presentation

I am an associate professor at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, where I am a part of the research group Light Microscopy.

My primary research focus is endocrinology. The aim of my research is to elucidate the mode of action of gastrointestinal hormones using in vivo and in vitro models with special focus on different histological techniques.

The scope of the research is to use the new knowledge on the physiology and pathophysiology of gastrointestinal hormones and their receptors to develop new treatments for diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease.

I have previously worked as a researcher at Novo Nordisk for 7 years developing new GLP-1 based drugs to treat diabetes and obesity. In addition, I have also worked with diabetes education for one year at Steno Diabetes Center.

I have published 94 peer-reviewed articles. In 2004-2009, I was a member of the Danish Medical Research Council.
