Elena Papaleo is Associate Professor on a split position between the University of Copenhagen and Kraeftens Bekaempelse (where she is group leader of the Computational Biology Laboratory). Her research interest focuses on the use of computational methods integrated by experimental data in cancer research. In particular, her group aim: i) to identify new specific markers for different cancer types, ii) assess the functional and structural impact of germline and somatic missense mutations and their interplay with post-translational modifications, and iii) to characterize new possible therapeutic targets. Elena also acts as a section or academic editor for different open access journals, such as PeerJ, PLoS Computational Biology, PLoS ONE and Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences.
