Personal profile

Primary fields of research

  • Negative sociale relationer på arbejdspladsen: mobning, vold, trusler, konflikter, sexchikane m.m.
  • Konsekvenser for individ, gruppe/arbejdsplads, organisation og samfund
  • Psykosocialt arbejdsmiljø
  • Intervention og forebyggelse
  • Individfaktorer som coping, self-efficacy, sense of coherence m.m.
  • Traumepsykologi

Research: brief description

My primary field of interest is the psychosocial work environment with a main focus on negative social relations involving work-related bullying, violence, threats, conflicts and harassment etc., and the effects this may have on the health and wellbeing of the targets, the work environment, the organization and society. I have also worked with prevention of negative social relations on the individual and organizational level. Together with research partners in the department and at other universities and research institutions we have gathered large cohorts that are followed over many years and which we are now merging with relevant registers to investigate long-term outcomes such as sickness absence, early retirement, turnover, suicide and suicide attempts.

The most important contribution of my research was to get the attention of public and private organizations to how detrimental and costly for the individual, organizations and society it can be to allow negative relations to develop in an organization. My research has also shown ways to work with the psychosocial work environment to reduce and/or prevent bullying and conflicts as well as investigating risk factors and outcomes of violence and threats at work.
