My research is focused on the genetic of diabetes and obesity - especially the kind of obesity and diabetes that develops in children due to the inheritance of genetic variants from their parent. These types of diabetes and obesity are important to discover in order to tailor the treatment of the patients to the underlying genetic etiology of the disease and thereby obtain a better treatment response and prognosis.
Thus, my main research interest involves identification of patients having monogenic diabetes that is misdiagnosed as another form of diabetes as well as the identification of new genetic etiologies in monogenic diabetes and childhood obesity.
