Research activity per year
Torben Dam is associate professor and landscape architect, affiliated with the research group: ”Landscape Architecture and Urbanism”. Research and teaching target Landscape Architecture. The research manages processes and subjects with-in landscape architecture. The processes and subjects incorporate design theory, natural science, technology and cultural tradition in landscape architecture. Research, supervision and teaching has created insight into specific landscape architectural works and has given an extensive knowledge about worldwide landscape architecture. Research and development has been in the relation to the quality of landscape architecture and the significance of design solutions in relation to societal discussions and problems. Subjects in research and development has been about urban nature; dynamic plantexpressions; paving; soil and growth substrates; climate adaptation and stormwater management.
Education begin in the problembased research and the landscape architectural method. My teaching concentrate in the bachelor course Plants and technologi in Landscape Architechture 1 + 2 and the msc course Landscape studio. Education is every year based on a specific and relevant design problem, which also is relevant in professional practice. The msc course Landscape Studio includes every year a field trip, which focus on contemporary european landscape architecture. Since 1994 more than 100 thesis and bachelorsprojects have been supervised. University and professional practice enchange experience and knowledge on the yearly conference ”The city floor” firstly held in 2014. Torben Dam is member of a ”Think Tank” in The Danish association of Landscape architects. Torben Dam participates in architectural competitions.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
