Personal profile

Short presentation

I have a master degree in human physiology from 2008.  In the beginning of 2013 I handed in my Doctoral Thesis, which I hope to defend late 2013. I am now working as a post doc as a part of the XLAB group, Faculty of Health Sciences.

The XLAB group is part of Center for Healthy Aging and the UNIK-program.

Primary fields of research

My primary research is focusing on mitochondrial physiology in combination with diabetes, aging and exercise.

Current research

I have in the last 6-7 years been investigating the link between mitochondrial function and insulin resistance. The last two years I have been investigating if cholesterol lowering drugs (statins) have an effect on mitochondrial function. This study was published in the beginning of 2013 in the Journal of American College Cardiology. Now I am investigating the effect of high intensity training on mitochondrial function.

Teaching

Exercise instructor: Energy turnover & Metabolism, Copenhagen University, Faculty of Health sciences.

Co-supervisor for bachelor- and master students studying medical science as well as sport and exercise sciences.
