Jette Sandholm Kastrup function as group leader on a Biostructural Research core project on ion channel receptors (ionotropic glutamate receptors and Cys-loop receptors).
The group is one of the leading groups in this field of ionotropic glutamate receptors and has demonstrated its expertise in analyzing the mechanisms of compound action at iGluRs, using X-ray crystallography and various methods of protein analysis. Moreover, the group was the first to determine the structure of the LBD of the AMPA receptor GluA4 (Kasper et al., 2008), the kainate receptor GluK1 (Naur et al., 2005), the iGluR orphan receptor GluD2 (Naur et al., 2007) and the kainate receptor GluK3 (Venskutonyte et al., 2011).
