Personal profile

Short presentation

Professor, Jette Lautrup Frederiksen is Head of Clinic of Multiple Sclerosis and Optic Neuritis at RH Glostrup and leader of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) research group at UCPH.

The group works within clinical, epidemiological, immunological and biochemical research in all stages of MS. The primary focus is on changes occurring in very early stages, especially in optic neuritis, a model for acute onset of MS. Owing to the centralization of patients from Eastern Denmark, the clinic has the largest collection of patients with optic neuritis. This forms the basis for groundbreaking research into both disease causes and new treatment options.

Research aims at clarifying basic mechanisms and translational research. Research subjects are potential biomarkers correlating with individual disease evolution. Projects are carried out in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology, the Functional Imaging Unit, the Department of Ophthalmology, RH as well as several national and international partners.
