• MA (cand.mag.) in English and Applied Linguistics from the University of Copenhagen 1990.
• University of Copenhagen 1991 Gold Medal for prize thesis titled Tekstning - Synkron billedmedie­oversættelse (Subtitling - Synchronous Screen Translation).
• Ph.D. in Translation Studies from the University of Copenhagen 1998. Title of dissertation:Subtitles, Translation & Idioms.
• 1980-90: Television subtitler (culture & fiction) at Radio Denmark (Danmarks Radio), Copenhagen

Present research focus: English-inspired morphosyntactic constructions in Danish, including loan translations
