Personal profile

Short presentation

My research focuses on the political ecology and political economy of natural resources in developing countries, i.e. the relationships between economic and political processes and the natural resources. I'm particularly interested in forests/forestry and especially timber and charcoal. In relation to timber, I have done research on benefit sharing and illegal logging, including the implications of the FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade) and VPAs (Voluntary Partnership Agreements). I am involved in two larger research programmes:  Access ad Exclusion along the charcoal commodity chain in Ghana (AX) and Access-Authority Nexus in Farmer-Herder Conflicts in Ghana (AAN) (website will be launched soon!)

I am course responsible for the MSc course  Interdisciplinary Land Use and Natural Resource Management course. I also teach in the MSc course Political Ecology.  I supervise four PhD students:  Numan Amanzi and Srijana BaralLawrence Brobbey and Frank Agyei  I enjoy supervising BSc and MSc students, so if you are interested in the above-mentioned topics, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
