Kort præsentation

Karina received their Ph.D. degree in health sciences in 2013 (the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Metabolic Research, University of Copenhagen) for their work on systems genetics in complex diseases. From 2013 to 2015, they was at Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, University of Oxford (Genetic and Genomic Epidemiology Unit/Diabetes Genetics) where they worked on quality control and association analyses of genotyping data from several consortia (e.g. GoT2D and DIRECT) investigating the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes and related phenotypes. Here, they also co-developed TOPPAR (http://mccarthy.well.ox.ac.uk/toppar/docs/) a customisable database-driven browser for GWAS results.

Since 2015, Karina has continued their line of research at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research with the focus to improve precision medicine and discover novel clinically useful biomarkers by meaningful translation of results derived from advanced integrative analysis of various health-care data and genomic data.

Karina is involved in projects founded in large IMI consortia (e.g. RHAPSODY and DIRECT) and also in Danish national biobank collaborations such as The Danish Blood Donor Study and the Copenhagen Hospital Biobank.
