Current research

Uddannelsessystemet i Japan, herunder især emner der vedrører reform, globalisering og "moral education" en art "borgerlære", men med en moralsk dimension. Tidligere har jeg også arbejdet med private "efter-skole skoler", der tilbyder lektiehjælp, fritidsordning og eksamensforberedelse. Disse er analyseret i forhold til deres betydning for den japanske lovgivnings krav om lige adgang til uddannelserne, skolens muligheder for at fungere og i relation til deres selvopfattelse og udviklingsmuligheder.

Desuden arbejdes mere generelt med emner der berører opfattelsen af "den anden", social organisation og begrebet "orden" på individuelt og samfundsmæssigt niveau.

2. Deputy Head of Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies (ToRS), 2007 – 2010.

3. Head of the coordination committee of the Boards of Studies at the Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, 2004-2006.

4. Head of the Board of Studies, Department of Asian Studies, from February 2000 – August 2002 and from May 2003 – November 2005.

5. Member of board of the department and board of studies, Department of Asian Studies 1999 - 2005.

6. Danish Representative at Asia-Europe Young Leaders Symposium under ASEM in Miyazaki 1997 and Baden 1998. Chaired work shop on work and education in Baden.

7. Member of the board of Nordic Association of Japanese and Korean Studies (NAJAKS), 1995-2010. Organizer of NAJAKS conference in Copenhagen 2007.

Teaching

I mainly teach topics concerning Japanese contemporary society and culture, but also theoretical courses and Japanese language.

I supervise essays and theses on contemporary society and popular and modern culture.
