• Contributes substantially, internationally, to research in reproductive health with a special focus on infertility, assisted reproduction, family formation and prevention of infertility

• Developed and implemented questionnaire-based infertility-specific measurement scales for stress, coping, and communication. The instruments have been translated and used in more than 20 countries throughout the world

• Established in 2000 an international, inter-disciplinary research group involving 15-20 researchers from Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Portugal, Sweden, UK, USA; The Copenhagen Multi-centre Psychosocial Infertility (COMPI) Research Group

• Combines quantitative and qualitative research methods

• Contributes substantially to the development and running of pre- and postgraduate educations at the Faculty of Health, University of Copenhagen

• Participates substantially in the public health debate within reproductive health policy

Current research

• Programme coordinator (PI) for the research group, Reproductive Health, Section of Social Medicine
• Programme coordinator for The Copenhagen Multi-centre Psychosocial Infertility (COMPI) Research Programme. The COMPI group involves 20 junio and senior researchers from University of Copenhagen; Cardiff University, UK; Chapman University, CA; Porto University and Gomeira University, Portugal; University of Southern Denmark; Aalborg University. Collaboration with the fertility clinics at Odense University Hospital, the Regional Hospital Brædstrup and The State University Hospital in Copenhagen.
• Psychiatric disorders, infertility and medically assisted reproduction. PL: Lone Schmidt. Register-based national cohort study.
• Family histories and establishing of daily life after fertility treatment. PI: Lisbeth B Knudsen, Aalborg University. Collaboration project based on COMPI data.
