Short presentation

My research is centered on land use changes, their human and environmental drivers, and the outcomes of these land use changes. I have pursued this research field in a number of different contexts and continents, including Burkina Faso, Mali, Mozambique, South Africa, Laos, and Brazil. I received my Ph.D. in 2013 from the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management, University of Copenhagen and since then have held positions at the University of Michigan and University of British Columbia.

Current and recent research projects

  • ERC starting grant. Reinterpreting how forests support people's dietary quality in low-income countries. PI, 2020-2025
  • Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship. Can agricultural intensification and expansion perversely lead to lower food security among local people? PI, 2017-2019
  • The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Socio-economic benefits of ecological infrastructure in South Africa. Work Package lead, 2018-2020
