Research topics
Urban applications of geographic information systems and satellite remote sensing. Geoinformatics in a planning context with focus on urban development in developing countries, mainly Ghana and Tanzania. Accessibility and location-allocation modeling for service planning. Methods for high-resolution satellite image analysis. Research collaboration and capacity building for application of GIS and remote sensing techniques in developing countries. Web-based and mobile gis for dissemination of spatial narratives.

Field experience and research visits
More than 25 years of experience with field work, research collaboration and capacity building in West Africa (Ghana, Senegal), East Africa (Tanzania) and Asia (Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam).
2012: Research visit at SDSU, San Diego. 1 month.
1997 – 1998: University of Ghana, Accra. Research collaboration, capacity building and supervision of PhD students (8 month).

Approx. 40 masters students completed. 8 ph.d students in Denmark and Ghana. Extensive teaching experience within Geographical Information Systems, Satellite Remote Sensing and Urban Planning on all levels.

Urban applications of GIS and satellite remote sensing. GIS-based spatial analysis. Application of methods from Geoinformatics in an urban planning context. Research collaboration and capacity building in developing countries. Transport network and infrastructure analysis. Web-based and mobile GIS.
