Short presentation

Research interests

My main areas of interests include community based participatory research and to develop appropriate tools to evaluate complex interventions. Especially, I have focused on mental well-being, the prevention of self-harm and suicide, the harmful use of alcohol and the role the media plays in health research. Currently I am also embarking on the topic of maternal health and mental health care.

I am currently responsible for developing the qualitative evaluative component of two large interventions: a complex, step-wedged intervention seeking to moderate alcohol use in rural Sri Lanka (https://publichealth.ku.dk/about-the-department/global/research/mental-health/scaling-up-of-a-community-based-alcohol-education-program-in-rural-sri-lanka/) and a complex, step-wedged intervention using tailored clinical guidance and training for improved maternal and perinatal health in Tanzania (https://publichealth.ku.dk/about-the-department/global/research/sexual-and-reproductive-health-and-rights/partoma/). Further assignments include being course coordinator of a Field course in Sri Lanka on Cross-disciplinary Health Research, teaching responsibility (qualitative methods and theory, global mental health, pre-departure training), thesis and internship supervision.
