- 1982 master degree (summa cum laude) in Scandinavian Languages and Literature at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome
- Autumn 1984: Stagiaire at the EU Commission (Bruxelles)
- 1992 master degree in Computer Science (major) and film (minor) at the University of Copenhagen
- 2002 Ph.D. in Computational Linguistics at the University of Copenhagen with the dissertation The Use and Resolution of Intersentential Pronominal Anaphora in Danish Discourse.

- 1983-1984 guest researcher at the University of Copenhagen -Institute for Nordic Philology (grant from the Ministry of Education)
