Cornelius Wiesener is a postdoctoral research fellow at iCourts, where he is part of two externally funded research projects:

  1. International Law and Military Operations – InterMil, led by Prof. Astrid Kjeldgaard-Pedersen
  2. Public Administration and Computational Transparency in Algorithms – PACTA, led by Prof. Henrik Palmer Olsen (Vice-Dean)

Cornelius holds a B.A. in International Relations from Dresden and two LL.M. degrees from NUI Galway and the EUI in Florence. His Ph.D. – supervised by Prof. Martin Scheinin and defended at the EUI in 2015 – examined the application and interplay of humanitarian law and human rights law in peace operations, with a particular focus on the use of force.

Throughout his career, Cornelius has been affiliated with a broad range of different institutions, including the Royal Danish Defence College, the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict in Bochum, the Amsterdam Centre for International Law, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
