Personal profile

Primary fields of research

Since the beginning of my academic training, I have worked specifically to specialise within quantitative equine nutrition. My earliest research involved non-invasive methods to quantify the effect of feed ingredients and mechanical feed processing on gut and dental health in working horses.

These inspiring results led to new projects conducted at University of Aarhus, Denmark, where my area of priority was implementing of sophisticated physio-chemical analytical methods for the determination of carbohydrate components in feed ingredients.

Studies in the horse of breakdown, absorption and hindgut
acidification of the various carbohydrates were investigated by use of a “state
of the art” invasive method and undertaken at experienced equine research facilities at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Ås.
