RESEARCH

The focus of my research has been interaction between microorganism and insects. My research has over the years included both fundamental and more applied projects, but always centered on understanding of how microorganisms and insects influence each other. I have worked with a broad range of insects e.g. honey bees, solitary bees, ants, flies, aphids, beetles and a broad range of techniques: exposure assays, phylogenetic analysis, behavioral assays in the lab and the field experiments.

  • Apiculture (honeybee diseases, managements, subspecies and conservation)

  • Insect pathology (ecology and phylogeny of insect pathogenic fungi)

  • Evolutionary biology (co-evolution of insects and microorganisms)

  • Biological control and Insects for food and feed
