Short presentation

My research focuses on the psychosocial wellbeing and social inclusion of refugee and immigrant youth in Denmark. I am particularly interested in educational institutions and how they may function as nodes of support for newcomer youth. My PhD project is an ethnographic study of a school-based mental health intervention for recently arrived refugee and immigrant teenagers in two public schools in Denmark. Examining how teachers and students interact with the intervention, I wish to explore the relationship between school as a place for formal education as well as a potential space for care and social support. The project is a part of the multidisciplinary European research project RefugeesWellSchool funded by the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Commission.
