Atlas of infant gut DNA virus diversity with taxonomy and curated sequences

Dataset

Description

Faecal viromes from 647 infants at age one year were deeply sequenced, assembled and curated, resulting in the identification of 10,021 viral species falling within 248 virus family-level clades (VFCs). Predicted host ranges for each VFC are given, and the VFCs have been grouped into 17 virus order-level clusters (VOCs). Trees show how families are interrelated within each VOC, and heatmaps and histograms encode their lifestyle, host range, abundance and prevalence across the cohort, their genome sizes and species diversities as well as their prevalence in published gut virus databases. For the 16 previously known viral families, names are written in red. Families can be expanded by clicking on their names for browsing the gene contents of individual viral species within each family, and for downloading their genomes.
