Description
Part of the aim of the Danish Government's Globalisation Strategy "Progress, Innovation and Cohesion" (2006) is that more young people should complete a programme of higher education within science, technology, and health. If this is to succeed, it is necessary to strengthen young people's interest in and academic background for taking on these subjects, especially in primary and secondary schools. Many initiatives at various levels have been launched both inside and outside the educational system to achieve this goal. However, what is needed is far better coordination and integration of the initiatives so they support the overall national objectives to a far higher degree than is the case at present.
In May 2007, the Danish government therefore appointed a task force which was charged with preparing proposals for a national strategy to boost the science, technology, and health (STH) education throughout the entire educational system. In this report, the task force presents its recommendations and reasons.
