How easy is it to speak with a silver spoon in your mouth?: - on expectations and reactions to royal varieties of Danish

Activity: Talk or presentation typesLecture and oral contribution

Description

Many Danes pride themselves in the thought that Danish is an extremely difficult language to learn compared to other languages. The fact that hardly any adult learner reaches a native level of pronunciation in Danish (or any other language for that matter) is common knowledge. Yet it is interesting to listen to and read expectations and attitudes to the pronunciation of the royal learners of DK. Analyzing how different media and websites express their views on this matter, I want to approach an understanding of why royal learners are not to be compared with ordinary learners and whether royal learners become a convenient target of inappropriate mudslinging in the immigrant debate.
