Spectroscopic Tools for Quantitative Studies of DNA Structure and Dynamics

Søren Preus

Abstract

The main objective of this thesis is to develop quantitative fluorescence-based, spectroscopic tools for probing the 3D structure and dynamics of DNA and RNA. The thesis is founded on six peer-reviewed papers covering mainly the development, characterization and use of fluorescent nucleobase analogues. In addition, four software packages is presented for the simulation and uantitative analysis of time-resolved and steady-state UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence experiments.
