Abstract

Observations of heteroglossic practices have led to questioning of the usefulness of the concepts of “language” or “variety” in research as well as pedagogy, and it has been argued that such concepts are representations of particular language ideologies rather than of linguistic practice. This chapter examines details of what voices are performed with what local purposes in interactions among adolescents in Copenhagen.
