Kort præsentation

My research focuses on prevention of diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria. The approach is to understand strategies used by the bacteria to prevail. This can be a trait used to colonize, survive (for example antibiotic resistance), persist and cause disease in the hosts, or it can be evolutionary mechanisms that ensure the ability to adapt to new conditions. Based on this, new principles and guidelines for control of pathogenic bacteria are proposed and preliminarily evaluated. Current projects are concerned with Salmonella, Pasteurellaceae, Escherichia coli and Listeria monocytogenes. In addition, I research more general aspects of antimicrobial resitance in farm animals and also participate (and lead) projects in developing countries concerned with improved livestock production.

I teach clinical microbiology and food safety aspects of selected zoonoses on the veterinary curriculum.

I head the research group "molecular veternary microbiology" that currently consist of two professor, two associate professors, one assistant professor, one post doc, five PhD students and a varying number of graduate students and technicians.
