Research areas
The neural control of human movement, and in particular human learning and neural plasticity accompanying learning, strength training, immobilization and rehabilitation. Furthermore I am very interested in optimization of learning protocols in rehabilitation and training and in the interaction between movement/exercise and learning.
In addition to measures of human motor behavior and neuropsychological assesment, primary methods include electrophysiological and neuroimaging methods such as electromyography (EMG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and electrical stimulation (TES) of the human motor cortex, electroencephalography (EEG), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), peripheral nerve stimulation and recording of single motor unit activity in healthy human subjects and in patients.
