Kort præsentation

From a diploma thesis in Greece to PhD studies in the Netherlands and to postdoctoral research in Denmark, it has become obvious to me how interesting, but also how important it is to study genome (in)stability, to prevent or fight diseases and conditions such as cancer, neurodegeneration and ageing. I like to think that I have acquired a sound conceptual understanding of the fundamentals of chromatin biology in general, and the DNA Damage Response in particular. Being a part of the Mailand lab has certainly helped towards that direction, by enabling me to become better in the lab, in writing grants and in trying to come up with individual projects. What the future holds is uncertain as research can be unpredictable and less rewarding than expected. However basic research is also exciting and extremely beneficial for the progress of our society, whether from a health-, technology- or survival of the species-perspective (see global warming), therefore I am committed to following through from whatever post.
