This job includes clinical research, clinical teaching (equine surgery) to veterinary students and being a part of the large animal surgical team, including off-hours surgical duties. Since November 1st 2007 daily leader of anaesthesia at the Large Animal Hospital, University of Copenhagen

March 1st 2005- January 31st  2008 and March 1st - July 31st 2008

Ph.D. scholarship "Pain management in large animals" at the Department of Large Animal Sciences, Large Animal Surgery, Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (KVL), Copenhagen, Denmark.

During the last 1 ½ year I've been working on my Ph.D.project which have the working title "Potential analgesic and anti inflammatory effects of intra-articularly administered morphine".

I'm very dedicated in the field of improving pain management in our patients. Which indeed includes better recognition of animal pain and one of the "by-products" of my Ph.D. research should be an improvement of pain scoring in equine orthopedic patients.

Within the Ph.D. scholarship I have participated in full time fulltime clinical/surgical work in the Large Animal Hospital of KVL, approximately 1 month / semester. This includes being a part of the team running the Large Animal clinic, as well as teaching undergraduate veterinary students, and giving lectures for veterinary students, and farrier trainees. The surgical work includes performing or assisting a variety of surgeries, mainly equine colic cases.

During this period I've also pursued one of my second interests; equine ophthalmology, ophthalmic surgery and ultrasonographic examination of the equine eye.

June 1st 2003 -February 28th 2005

Internship, Large Animal Hospital, Department of Large Animal Sciences, Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen, Denmark.

During this period I was on a rota between day, night and weekend within the Large Animal Hospital of KVL. During day shifts I always worked within the Surgical department of the Large Animal Hospital, which included 1st opinion on referred cases, treatment of patients in the clinic, performing and assisting a wide variety of surgical procedures in mainly equine, but also bovine patients, and instructing undergraduate veterinary students. Furthermore the position included responsibility for client/owner contact and contact to the referring veterinarians. During night and weekend duty the position also included outpractice (80% equine), on non referred cases, as well as treatment of all types of patients within the Large Animal Hospital.

February 18th 2002 - May 31st 2003

Assistant veterinary surgeon.

ECVS).
