Beskrivelse

Regulators commonly consider the global financial system under constant threat of being used for criminal activities: tax evasion, money laundering, terrorist financing, and evasion of international sanctions top the list. Thus, a key concern of security policies and regulatory activities is protecting it from these kinds of misuses. Today, global financial institutions, financial intelligence units and regulators are engaged in fighting financial crime and catching illegal proceeds. The involved institutions continuously increase their capabilities in this area. Strict compliance regimes seek to ensure that suspicious activities are identified and reported for further investigation and persecution. Filed report numbers of such activities roughly doubled globally in the past five years. Yet the challenges in fighting financial crime remain daunting: For example, the sum of money laundered globally lies between 2-5% of global GDP, or USD 1.6 to 4 trillion per year, according to the UN.
Please join us for discussions that seek to advance common understandings of these challenges by taking into account the perspectives of regulators, financial institutions and academic experts. The inspirational seminar seeks to highlight the challenges in fighting financial crime, common as well as new ones, shed light on major trends in financial crime in recent years and discuss the future prospects of financial security: What is the vision five years from now?
