Abstract: A tool to give feedback on language in written assignments As a teacher, you can quickly assess whether an assignment is well structured and well formulated, but explaining to the students how they should develop their writing can be a challenge. According to research, it is instrumental in a students’ learning experience to provide them with constructive, formative feedback, in other words advice they can implement in future written assignments. At the Centre for Internationalisation and Parallel Language Use, we have developed a tool to give feedback on language in written assignments. In this talk, we will present the challenges we encountered to create a simple, flexible and practical tool, which can be implemented across all disciplines at the university. The tool consists of a feedback rubric, a video explaining how to use the rubric, a manual describing the rubric and a link to CIP’s Toolbox with relevant websites.
