Abstract
Objective
To examine if psoriatic patients can achieve a weight loss to the same extent as non-psoriatic patients
To describe the effect of weight loss on the cutaneous manifestations.
Conclusion
Patients with psoriasis achieved a weight loss, similar to non-psoriatic patients, of 12 % of their body weight following calorie restriction for 12 weeks. Taken together with recent literature the findings suggest that weight loss has a potential to reduce skin manifestations. Weight loss might also attenuate the increased cardiovascular and diabetes risks posed by obese psoriatric patients.
