Risks of off-label medicines in children: Adverse drug reactions

Lise Aagaard, Ebba Holme Hansen

    Abstract

Off-label use of medicines in children is common as few medications are licensed for use in the paediatric population. Off-label prescription includes prescribing outside the recommended dosage, indication, route of administration and age of patient. Lack of knowledge about possible adverse drug reactions (ADRs) results in off-label use of medicines in the paediatric population being a concern.
