Abstract
What does it mean to speak of post-traumatic growth? The present article investigates the role of speech and silence in coping with anxiety, grief, and powerlessness. This issue will be discussed by analyzing David Grossman’s book Falling Out of Time, by bringing together different psychotherapeutic, philosophical and anthropological approaches to the question of whether recounting traumatic memories constitutes a risk or rather a remedy, and by reflecting upon the gospel as inspiration and provocation for pastoral care.
