Abstract

Cysteamine is a potent duodenal ulcerogen in rats (1). The pathogenesis of such ulcers comprises gastric acid hypersecretion (2,3), hypergastrinaemia (4), delayed gastric emptying (5,6), and inhibition of bicarbonate, mucus and EGF secretion by the duodenal Brunner's gland (7,8).
