Abstract

To better understand and characterize the function (or lack thereof) of proteins-wild-type vs mutants-it is advantageous to be able to express these proteins in a controlled, chosen setup. For downstream applications such as enzymatic assays, X-ray crystallography/nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), raising antibodies, or characterization of physical interaction with other proteins, it may furthermore be desirable to obtain large quantities of pure protein.
