Translated title of the contribution: Thunder of Fame: The Complete Liberation of Chenga Drikung Lingpa

Jan-Ulrich Sobisch

Abstract

Drikung Lingpa (1187-1255) was the chief disciple of Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön (1143-1217), founder of the Drikung Kagyü tradition and teacher of a system called "The Single Intention" (dgongs gcig), which was put into writing by Drikung Lingpa. The life story was composed in 1535 by Rinchen Phüntshog, at that time head of the Drikung tradition. The book provides an interesting insight into the formation of early Kagyüpa schools in the first half of the 13th century.
