Black Hole Masses and Accretion in Quasars and Active Galactic Nuclei

Abstract

I aim to give an overview of mass determinations of supermassive black holes in active galactic nuclei and quasars and their demographics. I will also discuss some observational constraints on the accretion properties of these systems, including some insights from recent work.
