Short presentation

My main interest is to investigate mechanisms that could explain the potential beneficial effects of moderate alcohol intake in relation to cardiovascular disease, expecially coronary heart disease. More specifically, I am investigating the effect of moderate alcohol consumption on lipoprotein subclasses and their relationship to cardiovascular disease risk. In addition, I am looking at the effect of moderate drinking on abdominal obesity, measured by DXA scans, and different markers of glycemic control. My PhD is composed of two parts: a systematic review and a randomized crossover intervention trial in which one drink per day (12-15 g) is compared with abstention.
