The social practice of producing, using and sharing digital, sexual images is increasingly integral to the everyday lives of young people. In my Ph.D. I study how the new pheomena of sexting and non-consentual sexual images changes young people’s life and sexuality, building on and developing our current knowledge about young people’s use of pornography. The project consists of a narrative and visual analysis of qualitative data both from police cases of non-consensual pornography and from interviews with young people about sexting. The project explores the meanings and practises of sexting and digitally abused sexual images within the theoretical framework of sociology of everyday life.
