My research interest is to investigate the basic nature of collaborative work with the aim of designing collaborative technologies – thus my main research area is Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). Since 2002 I have explore CSCW research agendas within different domain such as Healthcare (Emergency Departments in Vancouver, Canada; Heart Centers in Copenhagen, Denmark; Oncology departments, Herlev, Denmark); Global software development (including work conditions in India and Philippines); Start-up companies (Palestinian start-up; Blockchain start-ups); and currently I am involved in exploring new ways to include digital fabrication for collaborative technologies related to Maker communities, Makerspaces, and inclusive technologies (UCPH Makerspace, FemTech).

My research is published at different publications venues including peer-reviewed conference proceedings (e.g. CHI, CSCW, ECSCW) as well as in high-ranking journals such as the Journal of Computer Supported Cooperative Work, ACM Transaction for Computer Human Interaction, International Journal of Management, International Journal of Medical Informatics, Information System Journal, Action Research Journal, Science & Technology Studies, European Journal of Information Systems, Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems, and IEEE Transaction on Professional Communication.

I joined DIKU as Professor in CSCW in May 2015, however prior I was Associate Professor and Head of the research group: Technologies in Practice, IT University in Copenhagen, Denmark (February 2009-April 2015); assistant professor IT University of Copenhagen (September 2008-January 2009); visiting faculty at University of California, Irvine, USA (July 2013-August 2014) and part of ISTC center for research on social computing ; visiting faculty at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India (December 2011-January 2012); Post-doctoral fellow Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, Canada (December 2006-August 2008); Roskilde University, Denmark.
