Current research

My current reseach falls into two parts:

• The first part continues my former postdoctoral project (2009-2011) on Science, Medicine and scientific networks in the Danish/English Halle misson in South India, ca. 1700-1820. I explore how new scientific and medical knowledge about India were constructed in the eighteenth and early nineteenth century. It took place partly in the encounters and interactions between German misionaries and various groups of Tamils in South India, and, partly, during the circulation of this new knowledge in the global scientific and religious networks of the mission. The goal is to publish the results as a monograph.
• The second part of my research concerns mortality and morbidity in nineteenth and twentieth century Copenhagen. This research is part of the work taking place in two research groups at the Centre for GeoGenetics at University of Copenhagen, namely Genetic Identification and Discovery (GID) og Anthropogenic air pollution and environmental history (City Core).

• Caribisk og Dansk Vestindisk historie med særlig vægt på slaveri (BA-projekt og KA)
