Before being appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen, Miriam completed her studies at the University of Chicago, where she obtained an M.A. (2008) and a Ph.D. in Economics (2013). Prior, she had obtained a M.Sc. (drs.) at Maastricht University. Miriam is German, but has spent time in the Netherlands and the USA, France and Ecuador.

Teaching
