Short presentation

My research primarily relates to China's political economy as well as welfare state development in the reform period (1978-). I examine how China's economic model can be understood in light of the overall history of capitalism, and how China's model compares with that of other 'late developers, such as Germany and Japan. Min research is thus both historical and comparative.

I apply a methodological globalist approach, which implies that the development of one country (in casu China) is not treated as a separate entity, but examined as part of the global economy and international state system.
