Scientific Work

Publications: 131 research papers, 26 dissemination papers (popular scientific, debate, etc.), 2 patent applications (1 patent granted) and 1 thesis, 1 expert report and editor of 1 book. Reviewer for more than 20 scientific journals Participation in more than 160 scientific meetings and conferences, presentation of more than 90 poster or free oral presentations and more than 40 invited lectures. 
Current research activities are focused on: 

  • Influence of administration routes and delivery systems on the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic behaviour of opioids with special focus on the dose-response of both wanted and unwanted effects. 
  • PK/PD modeling of the effects of opioids. 
  • Optimization of the pharmacological treatment of chronic pain disorders; with focus on the individual patient needs.
  • MULTIPAIN; individualization of pharmacological pain treatment, by elucidation of the reasons for the differentiated effects of analgesics in human experimental pain models.

Supervisor Responsibilities and Teaching

Supervisor for a total of 26 Ph.D. students (currently 4), 8 pre graduate scholar students and more than 200 master students.  Member of the assessment committees for 13 PhD. theses.

Educational activities have included a broad spectrum of pharmaceutical disciplines, such a pharmaceutical technology, biopharmaceutics, drug delivery/formulation, pharmacotherapy, clinical pharmacy, social pharmacy, and pharmacology at both pre graduate and post-graduate level.

Activities have included lectures, laboratory exercises, work-shops, tutorials, supervision as well as  examnination, evaluation and course planning and managing.
