Positions
1997-     Teaching associate professor, Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Still teaches swimming, in-service training of teachers and developmental and research work on new teaching styles and use of digital media in teaching for various groups (both within all levels of the school system and in the swimming clubs).
1982-1997  Teaching associate professor, Danmarks Højskole for Legemsøvelser (DHL). Have taught gymnastics, dance, swimming and outdoors education. Developed program for in-service training ‘pædagogisk udvikling i faget idræt” (eng: pedagogical development in the subject of PE) for teachers in primary schools.
1981-1982  Teacher at Vestre Borgerdydskole (a high school in Copenhagen). Taught biology and PE.
1971-1982  Teacher at DHL. Teaching gymnastics (sports and rythmic) and Outdoor education.
1971-1980  Teacher at N. Zahles Seminarium (now UCC Zahle – primary school teacher education). Taught PE, swimming and biology.

Commitments
Commitee positions at Dansk Idrætsforbund (The National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark): Youth Commitee (2004) and Talent Development (2008).

Related to water safety
Has developed teaching material for The Danish Swimming Association (Dansk Svømme- og Livredningsforbund - now Dansk SvømmeUnion).

TIES is a 24 month project funded under the Leonardo da Vinci, Lifelong Learning Programme of the Education & Culture DG of the European Union   Euro 32.683.
(In all, the project is funded with Euro 178.700 by EU. The total budget is Euro 240.000)
The kick-off meeting for TIES was held in Selfoss, Iceland on October 28 2008.

National and international collaboration
National networks in ICT-supported learning processes and international networks developing teaching process in relation to aquatic activity. During the last 5 years I have been active in:

  • The Danish Research Network – Forskningsnettet – a high-speed network connecting Danish universities and research institutions. Video-erfa group (UNIVid project and Videoactiv project EU).
  • Nordic network swimming education in higher education.
  • TIES group (Technology and Innovation in Educating Swimmers). Improving the quality and cost effectiveness of Scandinavian swimming teacher education using advanced on-line and audio-visual technologies.
  • World Water Safety-group. Research project.
