Current research

My research centers on political family and childhood history in the 19th and 20th centuries. I am interested in how people have organized their family life, how power is exercised in intimate relationships, and how such relationships have been shaped by shifting social, economic, political and legal circumstances. Themes: family history, divorce, education, childhood, gender, class, race.

Ongoing projects:
- The History of Divorce in Denmark c. 1880-2015
- The Politics of Family Secrecy (PI). This is a collective project, funded by a Sapere Aude Starting Grant by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.
